Day 4: Siem Reap / Beng Mealea / Koh Ker (B/L/D)
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.
We travel to the lost temple of Beng Mealea, the titanic of temples, a slumbering giant lost for centuries in the forests of Cambodia. It is the most accessible of Angkor’s lost temples, a mirror image of Angkor Wat, but utterly consumed by the voracious appetite of nature. Here it is possible to enjoy an Indiana Jones style experience clambering about the vast ruins. For those who want a more gentle adventure, there is also a sturdy wooden walkway running right into the heart of the temple.
We then head into the bush to the remote Angkor capital of Koh Ker. The history of Cambodia is riven with dynastic spats and political intrigue and one of the most memorable came in the 10th century when Jayavarman IV (928-942) fell out with his family, stormed off to the northwest and established the rival capital of Koh Ker.
We then return to our camp for the night, spending the night in a smart safari tent in the forest near the walls of Prasat Thom. The tents are modelled on wildlife safari tours in Africa but adjusted for the local environment. You travel by 4WD Land Cruiser, often deep into the forest and remote countryside areas where road conditions are not good. Overnight Siem Reap.

Day 7: Phnom Penh (B/-/-)
Today, begin your tour of this charming capital with a visit to the city's namesake, Wat Phnom. Founded in 1373, the pagoda was built to house Buddhist relics washed ashore by the river.
Visit the Royal Palace built in 1866 by King Norodom. See the different structures of this pagoda-style compound and stroll in its beautiful garden
Visit the Silver Pagoda so named because of its floor that is comprised of 5,000 silver tiles.
Continue to the nearby National Museum. Built in 1917, it is an exceptional example of traditional architecture, and is exclusively devoted to preserving and displaying Khmer art and sculptures. After lunch, drive to the killing fields of Choeung Ek. Between 1975 and 1978 about 17,000 men, women, children and infants who were detained and tortured at S-21 prison were then transported to the extermination camp of Choeung Ek.
Visit notorious S-21 Tuol Sleng Museum. In 1975 Tuol Svay Prey High School was taken over by Pol Pot's security forces and turned into a prison known as Security Prison 21 (S-21). It soon became the largest such centre of detention and torture in the country.
End the day with a visit the Russian Market (Psah Tuol Thom Pong), a lively outdoor market where you will find antiquities, silver and gold jewellery, gems, silk, stone and wood carvings, as well as T-Shirts, CDs and other souvenirs. Overnight Phnom Penh.
